Prize

Hard to get going today. A bit of normality – the thing I’ve been dreaming of for days – but I find that my brain won’t work. I think it’s exhaustion but it’s also hard to break that sense that I’ll be dashing around doing something in the next five minutes.

My Mum’s now taken her second antibiotic and though the delirium is almost gone (she still says she can hear a tune but now only very feint) she’s gone tired. I believe it’s an effect of the antibiotic. One of the great virtues of social media/email/text messaging is that I can go back to look at things I wrong two years ago. Five days after she went into the hospital, I was noting she was sleeping lots. Probably does no harm.

Me. I’m utterly knackered.

I was chuffed today to receive my prize for winning the Martin Rowson #DrawJacobReesMogg competition. Since I collect his books and have most of his recent, he generously sent me this rarity which now has a pride of place on my shelves.

Short blog post today.

I am knackered.

    1. Thanks Tracey. Hard to tell but hoping she is. Still the odd blip when she’s very tired (the odd thing she thinks she can see) but she’s only now taken 4 of the antibiotics. Keeping an eye on her and making sure she gets plenty of rest. 😉

Why Dunciad.com?

It’s a cool domain name and it was available. Yes, I know. Available. Crazy, isn’t it?

Really?

Yes. It also helps that it’s also my favourite satire written by Alexander Pope, one of the most metrically pure English poets who also knew his way around a crude insult or two. If you’ve not read it, you should give it a try.

So this is satire, right?

Can’t deny it. There will be some. But it’s also an experiment in writing and drawing, giving work away for free in order to see how many people are willing to support a writer doing his thing. It’s the weird stuff that I wouldn’t get published elsewhere in this word of diminishing demands and cookie-cutter tastes.
