Brief Update

A brief update from the lull before… well, whatever comes next.

My Mum is due home today but the process has been difficult. One day I hope to write about it and I’d do that now but I’ve got so much to do. Both my sister and myself are worried because we don’t know what we’re facing. That’s largely down to COVID and a system that hasn’t made it possible to even keep an eye on our Mum.

Until we know where we are, our minds are filled with imagined narratives of where we’re about to go. Partly we’ve been wanting her home so we can get on with our lives, however much they might be impacted by the reality of the situation. The agonising every day for weeks over the things we could only imagine has been mentally exhausting.

  1. Thanks for the updates – hope you get some sort of resolution of this soon then at least you’ll know where you’re up to. Must be absolutely rotten for all of you.

Why Dunciad.com?

It’s a cool domain name and it was available. Yes, I know. Available. Crazy, isn’t it?

Really?

Yes. It also helps that it’s also my favourite satire written by Alexander Pope, one of the most metrically pure English poets who also knew his way around a crude insult or two. If you’ve not read it, you should give it a try.

So this is satire, right?

Can’t deny it. There will be some. But it’s also an experiment in writing and drawing, giving work away for free in order to see how many people are willing to support a writer doing his thing. It’s the weird stuff that I wouldn’t get published elsewhere in this word of diminishing demands and cookie-cutter tastes.
